I was born in Connecticut, surrounded by small state parks and rivers. My dad, a jet engine engineer and my mom, a teacher and cook, raised me to be open minded and free thinking. When I had trouble in school, partly due to being dyslexic, I found myself retreating to nature. My cousin took me even deeper into the woods and I realized I was a true nature fanatic. Alaska turned out to be the open country that I had dreamed of all my life.
Years back, I bought a welder with money I received from a friend when he crashed my truck, and I began teaching myself to weld. After moving to Homer and meeting Tarri and Marlon, they saw what I could do and asked me to be their apprentice. I volunteered to help build the shop that is now my second home. Marlon once said to me, "If your imagination can see it, you can make it out of metal." My love for nature and metal sculpting ability are welding together every day in the shop. |
